The Spencers
Although they consider themselves retired, fans of the sensational Spencer family are always asking about new products and wanting to stay connected. JB and Barbara Spencer formed Spencer Ministries over four decades ago with outstanding original material and three children that were blessed with voices like their parents. The Spencer’s have been a household name in Southern Gospel and Bluegrass Gospel Music since they started recording in 1972. The family that consists of JB and Barbara, their daughter, Geniece, and their two gifted sons, Wade and Kevin got plenty talent from their parents. Barbara not only learned guitar at age eleven, but started her vocal journey at age five, singing in church. The couple started singing together, traveling, and recording shortly after they were married. The rest is history with 31 phenomenal projects under their belt and an array of Barbara's songs on their latest project that includes Look at Calvary, The Reach of Prayer, and I'll Run and Hide. Other outstanding songs are included in this project and it is no exception to the rule; the Spencer’s are continuing to bless people all over the country by holding up the standard of excellence their family ministry was founded on. Barbara notes, "Our biggest spiritual influence was our parents and grandparents having been raised in Christian homes." When asked who their biggest musical influences are, they note, "Many groups have been an influence on our lives and some of them are The Inspirations, The Goodman’s, Naomi Sego, Rambo’s, Primitive and The Singing Cookes." Wade and Kevin Spencer started playing and singing at a very young age. All three children are gifted as musicians and complement each other with diversity. Their talents have landed them bookings all over the nation and they have had the opportunity to minister abroad with so many top songs they have produced over the last several decades. Some of those standards include In My Robe of White (written by Geniece), Coming Soon, Let's Meet by the River, It'll Be Worth it After All, and Hem of His Garment. In My Robe of White landed on the Top 20 Singing News charts by the Spencer’s and Gold City simultaneously and continued to climb to the # 1 position for Gold City. Geniece, her husband Ernie, and children Holli, Heather, and Jared left the group in 1987 to form The Ingolds. Geniece's songs have been recorded within their own family projects. When Kevin formed his own ministry and record company in the early 90's, he landed three number one songs, I Heard About A Stone, Twelve Gates, and The Blood Is Still There. With many more nationally recognized songs and a large fan base, he has continued to record projects. He currently is traveling to over 200 dates per year. Wade Spencer has a solo ministry and has seven albums to his credit. Some of his nationally recognized songs include; There’s A Whole Lot of People Going Home, Emmaus, Three Rusty Nails, and Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting. Wade's latest recording project is Fresh Awakening. He does 150 dates a year. JB and Barbara still sing, but naturally aren't doing the amount of dates they once did. They book about 30 dates a year and still enjoy making friends and reconnecting with old ones. With the amazing songs brought into existence by the Spencer’s, one can find enjoyment, pleasure, and blessings in their CD's, their own Song Books, Videos, and DVD's. Even though the group is retired, fans still take enjoyment in being a part of the Spencer Reunions. They continue to hold up their mission that was established many years ago when JB and Barbara hit the road to form their ministry. Their mission remains the same. All of those who have known them and have the privilege of meeting them know: "The Spencer’s strive to win souls to Christ through a song or testimony." Yes, the Spencer’s are still a blessing and we want to keep them around as long as we can! For more info, bookings, or product: www.SpencerMusic.com
