Behind The Scenes.. with Cathy Hardwick..Exhibit Manager at NQC..
The 55th Annual National Quartet Convention at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY will be taking place Sept. 9-15, 2012. Approximately 40,000 gospel music fans, representing 40 states and multiple foreign countries, will attend the 2012 event and take in the sights and sounds of Christian music’s largest marketplace and largest annual event. With over 500 exhibitors and nearly 300 Southern Gospel artists in attendance, there’s always something new to discover. So we wanted to give you a small insight to “Behind The Scenes” workers, and this month we are talking with Cathy Hardwick, Exhibit Manager at the National Quartet Convention.
 1. Give us a little background on yourself and how long you have worked at NQC ?
I am a preacher’s kid, born and raised in Louisville, KY. I attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN and am married to the greatest and funniest guy ever, Roy, who is a landscape architect. We live in the country just outside of Louisville, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
2. As the Exhibitor Manager what does your duties and day consist of?
As the Exhibitor Manager at NQC, I work closely with artists in locating and booking booths, fielding questions, processing payments, keeping website information up-to-date i.e., booth information and the exhibitor packet, I monitor the registrations of the Regional Artist Showcase, compile the booth assignments to be published in the annual NQC Program Book.
3. On the average how many people does it take to put this event on?
I have worked at the NQC for 10+ years now, and am one of 5 full-time and one part-time employee here year round. We do every aspect of planning and implementing the convention, from processing seat passes to booking hotel rooms for our attendees, plus coordinating all aspects of the show with the Expo Center.
4. Is there a certain part you look forward to each yr? The best part of my job is working with the people who support our event. I love getting to know so many of them, and seeing them year after year. But the VERY best part for me is the NQC itself…all the noise and smiles and hugs and total chaos….I love every minute of it !!
